The Division of Coastal Management (DCM) has launched a program to support communities participating in RCCP to update their Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA) Land Use Plans (LUPs) to have a stronger focus on resilience. CAMA Land Use Plans are locally developed planning documents required under North Carolina’s Coastal Area Management Act that guide growth, development, and natural resource management in coastal communities.
Outcomes from RCCP Phases 1 and 2 (Resilience Strategy) will be used to incorporate resilience into the long-term planning goals of the updated Hyde County CAMA Land Use Plan.
A land use plan is a collection of policies and maps that serve as a community’s blueprint for growth. They provide guidance for both individual projects and a broad range of policy issues, such as the development of regulatory ordinances and public investment programs. These plans are a fundamental element of coastal management in North Carolina.
